The Minini Childrens Centennial Summit and the and "Stand for Children" rally
will jointly take Place on November 22rid, 1996 at the Coconut C1rove Convention
Center.
This one day event is tieing produced in Donor of'the. City of iliami's Centennial
Celebration by focusing on the needs and wol rare of our children. Sponsors for this event
include nuinercus coinrnunity based organizations and bovernmeril agencies including
Children Services Council, Dade Juvenile Justice Council, State of Florida children and
Family Dcparlmerit, the Human Scn;ices Coalition ol'Dude County, Academy for Better
Cominumtii,-s. etc,
Weo anticipate thousands of children and adults for this event which will be
a countywi(le Major Program fashioned like the Junc 1 st 1996 "Stand "or Children
Rally" in wmhingwn, D.C. This is our own local effoil in giving a. voice to our
children as vve inark the: Centennial anniversuty of our beloved City.
Duu it) the monetary constraints lt7v the planning Committee of'this event, we kindly
rcqueat a RV Waivcr from the Cite Ibr the use of the Convention Hall and Security.
Both itcmt will oust tfic City a total of 'thee Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars. We are
mindful of tllc finunvidl difficuliies theCity is presently undergoing, however wo believe
that this program h4s an ovc;ri-iditig ii ix►rtance in the lives and well being orour Children
and community at large.

The Miami Children's Centennial Project has reserved the Coconut Grove Convention Center for a
"Stand for Children" rally on November 22, 1996. The Execir ive President, Charles 0gugua, on
behalf of the various sponsors, has written to your office to request fee waivers from the City of
Miami for the use of the Convention Center ,and for security costs.
The estimated Coconut Grove Convention Center costs are as follows:
West Court Rental: $2,000
Tables and Chairs 780
Cleaning Charges 270
Total $3,050
Representatives from this organization have requested an appearance before the City Commission
on November 21 st to address the City Commission on behalf of their request for fee waivers for this
event.
It is the recognmetWation of the Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities that
expenses and fee waivers not be granted.
