(305) 552-3888 t October 30, 1996 ~O~IMME©IATE RELEASE©IATE RELEASE FPL TO ADVANCE FRANCHISE FEE PAYMENT TO CITY OF MIAMI JUNO 13EAC1-l, Fla. -- Florida Power & Light Company will advance to the City of Miami $3 million in franchise fee payments to help the local government's effort to { recover from its recently identified financial crisis. FPL is responding to an appeal from the mayor and acting city manager. The $3 million is the amount FPL estimates it would have paid to the city for the first three months of 1997. FPL expects to make the prepayment this week. j The company also is one of several firms that are providing the city with consulting expe~•tise in accounting, auditing and related matters.
