Dear Vice Mayor Gort:
My name is Angel Gonzalez and have resided in the City
of Miami for over thirty six years (36). Through out these years I
have always served this City in every way possible.
Jose Marti once said "Men form two factions: Those who
love and build and those who hate and destroy". As you are
aware I belong to the faction of those who love and build. This
can be demonstrated by my dedicated work, commitment and
involvement in the issues affecting Allapattah and other
communities as well. Copies of letters from merchants, neighbors
and community leaders which I have provided for you in this
presentation attest to this facts.
Allapattah Business Development Authority, the agency
where I earn my living has maintained the record of being the
most productive community based organization of all in the City of
Miami, receiving for the last three years incentive bonuses for its
performance
Aside from my paid job with A.B. D.A. I have been involved
in different activities for the benefit of Allapattah and the City of
Miami, this activities have taken place after regular working hours,
weekends and holidays.
• Examples:
1 founded the Allapattah Merchants Association a self sustain
association.

Dear Mr. Gonzalez:
CESAR H. ODIO
City Manager
We want to thank you and the members of the Allapattah Chamber of
Commerce for your participation in our Allapattah neighborhood
walk, and for treating my staff and I to lunch. It is imperative
that police and business leaders collectively address issues
which affect our community.
In response to your submission of a petition for more police
officers in Allapattah, I offer the following:
1.
2,
As of September 1995, one additional officer was assigned to
the midnight shift in Allapattah.
During the month of November, the day shift in Allapattah
received one additional permanent officer.
3. Effective November 1995 an officer was assigned to a
permanent beat on N.W. Twentieth Street.
Additionally, Lt. Albert Vila, the Commander of the Allapattah
N.E.T. area, has informed me that he has deployed officers in
uniform and plainclothes to address problems on N.W. 20th Street
during the past three months.
I have also been informed that Lt. Vila will have two officers
patrolling Twentieth Street during the busy month of December.

Congratulations!!! Because of your involvement
and support, the Blue Ribbon Committee Workshop
was a phenomenal success.
The Allapattah Elementary School Cafeteria had
a "standing room only" audience of students,
parents, teachers, government and community
activists. Contributing to the success of the
program was the excellent coverage we had in the
Miami Herald and the Miami Times as well as having
Dwight La rdale as Eie—MC.
we are currently in the process of reconvening the
Education Task Force to take this pilot project to
the other five districts in the Dade County Public
School system. We have already received requests
from other schools to take the "Kids for Peace"
initiative to them.
The day following the program our office was
inundated with calls of appreciation and
congratulations and it is a credit to you that we
