A RESOLUTION APPOINTING AN INDIVIDUAL AS A
MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GENERAL EMPLOYEES' AND SANITATION
EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT TRUST FOR A TERM AS
DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individual, selected from a
list of nominees submitted by the American Federation of State,
County and Municipal Employees ("A.F.S.C.M.E."), is hereby
appointed as a member of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement
Trust Board of Directors, to serve a term expiring November 30,
1999:

Section 2. This Resolution shall become
immediately upon its adoption.

(RE) APPOINTMENT TO
THE CITY OF MIAMI G.E.S.E.
RETIREMENT TRUST
It is recommended that the City Commission- confirm the re -appointment by A.F.S.C.M.E. bargaining unit of
Hector Serrano as member of the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees'
Retirement Trust Board of Trustees as per attached Resolution.
BACKGROUND:
City of Miami Code Section 40-243 (A), (Ordinance No. 10002), provides for the appointment of a nine member
board of trustees to administer and manage the retirement plan known as the "City of Miami General Employees'
and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust." Of these nine members, one is to be selected by the City
Manager, two by the general employees (A.F.S.C.M.E. bargaining unit), and two by the sanitation employees
(C.I.G.U. bargaining unit). Four independent trustees are to be selected by the City Commission per
recommendation by the two bargaining units.
Mr. Charlie Cox, President of A.F.S.C.M.E., has submitted for confirmation the name of Hector Serrano for
reappointment to the Pension Board (see attached letter). The term of office would begin on December 1, 1997,
and expire on November 30, 1999.

Pursuant to City Ordinance No. 10002, Section 40-226 and 40-
227, the term of our appointee, Hector Serrano, expires
November 30, 1997.
It is our wish to reappoint Mr. Serrano to serve on the
Pension Plan Board for another term. I would appreciate your
assistance in placing his name for re -appointment on the
Commission Agenda as soon as possible.
As always we appreciate your cooperation and concerns for our
Local and the employees of the City of Miami.
