These new funds will be used for environmental site assessment and related expenditures within the City of Miami. BACKGROUND: Resolution 96-710 adopted by the City Commission on 'October loth, 1996 authorized the City Manager to accept a grant in the amount of $100,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region IV for a Regional Brownfields Demonstration Pilot. As the City moved rapidly to implement the pilot project in Wynwood, the grant funds used for environmental site assessment were quickly depleted. The City requested that U.S. EPA Region IV provide additional grant funds so that the demonstration project could go forward. On September 3oth, 1997, the EPA amended the original award increasing it by $100,000. This action brought the total federal funds awarded to $200,000. 97- 81.3 1
