HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-97-0855. i • J-97-825 11/21/97 RESOLUTION NO. 9 7- 855 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING TRUST FUND, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $75,000.00, AND ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NO. 690003, SUCH EXPENDITURES HAVING BEEN CERTIFIED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING." WHEREAS, the Department of the Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" authorizes the expenditures of shared cash or proceeds forfeited for law enforcement purposes; and WHEREAS, the Police Department will be training its sworn personnel and other law enforcement support personnel in areas necessary to perform law enforcement duties; and WHEREAS, funds to cover said expenditure are available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690003, such expenditure having been certified by the Chief of Police as complying with the U.S. Department of Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing;" NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Funding for the Law Enforcement Training Trust Fund, in the amount not to exceed $75,000.00, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Number 690003, such expenditure having been certified by the Chief of Police as complying with the Department of Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing." Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of December , 1997. Funding is to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, from Project Number 690003. BACKGROUND: The Miami Police Department will be utilizing these funds to train its sworn personnel, and law enforcement support personnel in any area that is necessary to perform official law enforcement duties. Examples of such training will include but not be limited to: (1) techniques and operations of narcotics investigations, (2) crime scene/forensic art, (3) forfeitures and seizures (Fourth Amendment), (4) traffic homicide/accident investigations, (5) supervision/management of police personnel, (6) evidence/property management, (7) use of computers or other equipment used in or in support of law enforcement duties, etc.. 9 - 855 1 • AFFIDAVIT STATE OF FLORIDA: : SS COUNTY OF DADE : Before me this day personally appeared Donald H.
