RESOLUTION NO 9 ` _
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY AND
SINCEREST CONDOLENCES OF THE CITY COMMISSION
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF MIAMI AND ITS
CITIZENS TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF
JORGE MAS CANOSA, UPON HIS UNTIMELY DEATH.
WHEREAS, Jorge Mas Canosa, who recently passed away, leaves
behind an outstanding record as a prominent entrepreneur and
community leader; and
WHEREAS, included in Mr. Mas Canosa's many accomplishments
was his leadership and expertise which enabled him to lobby the
United States government to permit the establishment of Radio and
Television Marti; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mas Canosa was a tireless freedom fighter who
fought against the tyranny of dictatorship his entire life, and
most notably, against Fidel Castro, whereby he participated in
the Bays of Pigs and other events to bring about freedom in Cuba;
and
WHEREAS, he was the founding father of the Cuban -American
National Foundation which assisted countless refugees to become
productive and proud United States citizens; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission, on behalf
of the City of Miami and its citizens, to express its deepest
sympathy to the family and friends of Jorge Mas Canosa;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. On behalf of the citizens of the City of.
Miami, the City Commission hereby conveys to the family and
friends of Jorge Mas Canosa, its deepest sympathy and sincerest
condolences, upon his untimely death.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
