THE CITY COMMISSION, RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S ACTIONS IN ACCEPTING A GRANT AWARD, IN THE AMOUNT OF $500,000.00, FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA, OFFICE OF TOURISM, TRADE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING EQUIPMENT ACQUISITION, UNIFORMS AND SUPPLIES, AND TRAINING FOR THE SOUTH FLORIDA URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE ("USAR") TEAM, AND IN EXECUTING AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Office of. Tourism, Trade and Economic Development approved a grant for the City of Miami in the amount of $500,000.00 for the procurement of identified disaster response equipment, protective uniforms and supplies, training and confined space requirements; and WHEREAS, the Department of Fire -Rescue is the primary sponsoring agency and is responsible for the continued organization and development of the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue ("USAR") Task Force, FL TF 2; and WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City Commission to ratify, approve and confirm the City Manager's actions in accepting said grant and executing an agreement with the State of Florida, Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development to implement acceptance of said grant; CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF NOV 2 6 1997 Hesoludm Na 97- 819 • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager's actions in accepting a grant award, in the amount of $500,000.00 from the State of Florida, Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development for the purpose of funding equipment acquisition, uniforms and supplies, and training for the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue Team, and in executing an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorneyi1, to implement acceptance of said grant, are hereby ratified, approved and confirmed by a four -fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote of the Members of the City Commission.
