Scheduled for February 14, 15 and 16, 1998, the Festival promises to be better than ever. As in past years, we would like to sell beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages at the Festival. Beer and wine sales are handled by local service organizations, who receive a substantial portion of the proceeds for their fundraising efforts. Rum punch will be sold by community service organizations including the Coconut Grove Local Development Corporation, the Leukemia Society, the Gibson Memorial Fund and possibly by potential sponsors. The purpose of this correspondence is to request that the Coconut Grove Association, Inc., organizers of the Festival, be placed on the November 11 City Commission agenda to formally request the necessary Street Closure Permit to stage the Festival and cover the alcoholic beverage sales. My staff and I would be happy to meet with you prior to the meeting in order to answer any questions you may have regarding this request. I thank you for you assistance and attention to this request.
