A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $18,000 FROM FY '97-98 BUDGETED FUNDS
OF THE CIVIL SERVICE OFFICE, ACCOUNT
NO. 240101-250, FOR PAYMENT OF COMPENSATION
TO SPECIAL COUNSEL, INCLUDING ANY REQUIRED
RELATED LITIGATION SERVICES, FOR THE CIVIL
SERVICE BOARD.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. An amount not to exceed $18,000 is hereby
allocated from FY '97-98 Budgeted Funds of the Civil Service
Office, Account No. 240101-250, for payment of compensation to
Special Counsel, including any required related litigation
services, for the Civil Service Board.-/
Section 2. This Resolution

The attached proposed Resolution has beE:n prepared in order to
provide compensation, in the amount of $18,000.00, for special
counsel to the Civil Service Board for Fiscal Year `97-98.
The use of special counsel to serve as the legal adviser to the
Civil Service Board is required because the City Attorney
prosecutes code violations before the Boa:-d. It is impermissible
for the City Attorney to serve as the legal adviser to the Civil
Service Board while prosecuting code violations before the same.
