RESOLUTION NO. 9 i 780
A RESOLUTION CODESIGNATING NORTHWEST 67TH
STREET, FROM NORTHWEST 10TH AVENUE TO
NORTHWEST 12TH AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "SAMUEL
0. COHEN STREET"; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO TRANSMIT
A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED
AGENCIES.
WHEREAS, the Model City community would like to recognize a past principal of
Miami Northwestern Senior High School; and
WHEREAS, Samuel 0. Cohen was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him
for his dedication to improving scholastics at Miami Northwestern Senior High School; and
WHEREAS, Samuel 0. Cohen sponsored events that assisted the Athletic Program
at Miami Northwestern High School that earned national recognition; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 10761, adopted July 12, 1990, created the Miami
Street Codesignation Committee and entrusted said committee with the responsibility of
reviewing street codesignation requests and making recommendations to the City
Commission as to whether or not a street should be codesignated or a marker or plaza
should be designated; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the City Commission's directive, the Miami Street
Codesignation Review Committee, at its meeting of October 8, 1997, reviewed the
proposal for a street codesignation honoring Samuel 0. Cohen, and

recommended the proposed codesignation of N.W. 67th Street, from N.W. 10th Avenue to
N.W. 12th Avenue, Miami, Florida, as "Samuel 0. Cohen Street".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution
are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby codesignates Northwest 67th
Street, from Northwest 10th Avenue to Northwest 12th Avenue, Miami, Florida, as
"Samuel 0. Cohen Street".
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to instruct the Director of Public
Works to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Police Department, Fire -Rescue
Department, Department of General Services Administration, Department of Solid Waste,
Dade County Public Works Department and the United States Postal Service.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
