ENCLOSURES: Speed Warning Radar Trailer
It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution authorizing the procurement of radar units and a
speed warning radar trailer, in an amount not to exceed $40,000.00, be approved. Funding is to be
provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, from Project Number 690003.
BACKGROUND:
The Police Department will be procuring radar units to equip each motor unit with a mounted
"moving radar unit" allowing them to effectively enhance speeding enforcement. The speed
warning radar trailer warns motorists of their excessive speed in thoroughfares with high incidents
of accidents and/or traffic violations. These speed warning radar trailers have been highly
successful in other jurisdictions addressing speed problems in specific neighborhoods.
