HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-97-0746J-97-739 10/16/97 RESOLUTION NO. 9 7 " � 4 6 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $40,000.00, FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NO. 690003, FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF RADAR UNITS AND A SPEED WARNING RADAR TRAILER, SUCH EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING." WHEREAS, the Department of the Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" authorizes the expenditure of shared cash or proceeds forfeited for law enforcement purposes; and WHEREAS, the Police Department will be procuring radar units to equip each motor unit with a mounted "moving radar unit" allowing them to effectively enhance speeding enforcement; and WHEREAS, the Police Department will be procuring a speed warning trailer which warns motorists of their excessive speed in thoroughfares with high incidents of accidents and/or traffic violations; and WHEREAS, acquisition of said equipment is subject to compliance with all established procurement. procedures and final approval by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, funds to cover said expenditure are available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690003, such expenditure having been certified by the Chief, of Police as CITY COMUSSIOU MEETING OF, OCT 2 9 1997 Resolution No. 97- 746 • • complying with the Equitable Sharing"; U.S. Department of Treasury's "Guide to NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The allocation of funds, in an amount not to exceed $40,000.00, from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690003, is hereby authorized for the procurement of radar units and a speed warning radar trailer, such expenditure having been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with the Department of Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing." Funding is to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, from Project Number 690003. BACKGROUND: The Police Department will be procuring radar units to equip each motor unit with a mounted "moving radar unit" allowing them to effectively enhance speeding enforcement. The speed warning radar trailer warns motorists of their excessive speed in thoroughfares with high incidents of accidents and/or traffic violations.
