RESOLUTION NO. 9 745
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF
FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $8,500.00,
FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT
NO. 690003, FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF NON -LETHAL
WEAPON SYSTEMS AND RIFLE SCOPES, SUCH
EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF
OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO
EQUITABLE SHARING."
WHEREAS, the Department of the Treasury's "Guide to
Equitable Sharing" authorizes the expenditure of shared cash or
proceeds forfeited for law enforcement purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department will be procuring non -lethal
weapon systems to equip its Specialized Weapons and Tactics Team
with the ability to immobilize a subject with the use of deadly
force; and
WHEREAS, the rifle scopes will replace outdated equipment;
and
WHEREAS, said acquisition is subject to compliance with all
established procurement procedures and final approval by the City
Commission; and
WHEREAS, funds to cover said expenditure are available from
the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690003, such
expenditure having been certified by the Chief of Police as

complying with the U.S. Department of Treasury's "Guide to
Equitable Sharing";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The allocation of funds, in an amount not to
exceed $8,500.00, from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project
No. 690003, is hereby authorized for the procurement of non-
lethal weapon systems and rifle scopes, such expenditure having
been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with the
Department of Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing."
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 28th day of October 1997.

It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution authorizing the procurement of non -lethal weapon
systems and rifle scopes, in an amount not to exceed $8,500.00, be approved. Funding is to be
provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, from Project Number 690003.
BACKGROUND:
The Police Department will be procuring non -lethal weapon systems (rubber bullets, nets, etc.) to
equip the Specialized Weapons & Tactics Team with the ability to immobilize a subject without
the use of deadly force. The rifle scopes will replace outdated equipment.
