RESOLUTION NO. 4. "7 - 7
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF
FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $20,000.00,
FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT
NO. 690003, FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF CAMERA
EQUIPMENT, SUCH EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN
APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING
WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY'S
"GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING."
WHEREAS, the Department of the Treasury's "Guide to
Equitable Sharing" authorizes the expenditure of shared cash or
proceeds forfeited for law enforcement purposes;' and
WHEREAS, the Police Department will be procuring camera
equipment to enhance its investigative and crime scene
capabilities; and
WHEREAS, said cameras will assist Identification Technicians
to properly document crime scenes, provide an efficient and quick
means for community policing officers to document suspicious
persons during field interrogations, and allow investigators to
prepare phone line-ups expeditiously when necessary; and
WHEREAS, acquisition of said equipment is subject to
compliance with all established procurement procedures and final
approval by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, funds to cover said expenditure are available from
the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690003, such
expenditure having been certified by the Chief of Police as

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The allocation of funds, in an amount not to
exceed $20,000.00, from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project
No. 690003, is hereby authorized for the procurement of camera
equipment, such expenditure having been approved by the Chief of
Police as complying with the Department of Treasury's "Guide to
Equitable Sharing."
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon adoption.

It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution authorizing the purchase of camera equipment, in
an amount not to exceed $20,000.00, be approved. Funding is to be provided from the Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, from Project Number 690003.
BACKGROUND:
The Miami Police Department will be purchasing cameras to enhance their investigative and crime
scene capabilities. Cameras will enable Identification Technicians to properly document crime
scenes, provide an efficient and quick means for community policing officers to document
suspicious persons during field interrogations, and allow investigators to prepare photo line-ups
expeditiously, when necessary.
