Home My WebLink AboutR-97-0739J-97-755 10/22/97 RESOLUTION NO. 9 739 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF PHARMACEUTICALS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE FROM SUNBELT MEDICAL SUPPLY AND WYETWAYERST LABORATORIES, UNDER EXISTING DADE COUNTY CONTRACT NO. 5553-1 /97-OTR, FOR A ONE (1) YEAR PERIOD, AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $20,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM ACCOUNT CODE NO. 001000.280501.6.714; AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDER FOR SAID PHARMACEUTICALS. WHEREAS, the Department of Fire -Rescue needs to purchase pharmaceuticals at a total proposed cost of $20,000 under existing Dade County Contract No. 5553-1 /97-OTR from Sunbelt Medical Supply and Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories; and WHEREAS, the pharmaceuticals are used by the Miami Fire -Rescue paramedics to treat patients suffering from a variety of life threatening injuries; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from the Fire -Rescue FY '97/98 Budget, Account No. 001000.280501 .6.714; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Fire -Rescue recommend the purchase of pharmaceuticals from the herein specified vendors; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF OCT 281997 97- 739 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The purchase of pharmaceuticals for the Department of Fire -Rescue, from Sunbelt Medical Supply and Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, under existing Dade County Contract No. 5553-1 /97-OTR for a one (1) year period, at a total proposed amount of $20,000, is hereby approved, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Account Code No. 001000.280501.6.714. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue purchase order for said pharmaceuticals. Section 4. Lauderdale, FI 33351, and Wyeth- Ayerst Laboratories, located at P.O. Box 7447, Philadelphia, PA 19101-7447, under existing Metro Dade County Contract No. 5553-1 /97-OTR, for a one (1) year period, at a total annual amount not to exceed $20,000.00. Funds are available in the Department of Fire -Rescue FY' 97-98 Account Code No. 001000.280501.6. 714. BACKGROUND The Departments of Purchasing and Fire -Rescue have realized substantial savings utilizing the Dade County contract for the furnishing of pharmaceuticals. This service will be used by the Fire -Rescue Paramedics to treat patients suffering from a variety of life threatening medical emergencies and trauma related injuries. It is. therefore, recommended that award be made to Sunbelt Medical Supply and Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories as the lowest most responsible and responsive vendors under under existing Dade County Contract No. 5553-1 /7-OTR for the Department of Fire -Rescue.
