This legislation further authorizes the City Manager to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to implement the project. BACKGROUND: The City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department submitted applications to fund the design and construction of a wheelchair accessible trail within the unique subtropical hammock at Simpson Park. Once completed, the project will allow persons in wheelchairs to visit, enjoy and study one of Florida's unique habitats in the City of Miami. The project was presented and approved by the City of Miami Department of Parks and Recreation Americans with Disabilities Advisory Board and the Miami Roads Neighborhood Civic Association. Two grants have been awarded for this project. One from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection under the National Trail Funding Program in the amount of $42,000. A second in the amount of $58,878, comes from Metropolitan Dade County Office of ADA Coordination from fine revenues collected by Dade County for the misuse of specially marked parking spaces for people with disabilities. It is therefore necessary for the City of Miami Commission to approve the attached resolution in its entirety in order to implement this important and worthwhile project. 97- 572 1 I !ID ZTIS& BID go. e NATD DID(D) 012XID, 70 NEW ELECTRIC GOLF CARS 96-97-02.2 DECEiii3ER '1 1996 10:00 a.m. YAMAHA GOLF CARS OF FLA.
