Home My WebLink AboutR-97-0499J-97-510 7/16/97 RESOLUTION NO. 9 7- 499 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF ROUND TIRE SERVICES, FOR THE FURNISHING OF SPECIALIZED FLAT TIRE AND REPAIR SERVICES ON AN AS NEEDED BASIS, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE, ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR A PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR WITH THE OPTION TO EXTEND FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE (1) YEAR PERIODS, AT A TOTAL PROPOSED ANNUAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $45,000.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE FLEET SERVICE CENTER, GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 503001.291301.6.340; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received June 16, 1997 for the furnishing of specialized flat tire and repair services on an as needed basis, to the Department of Police, on a contract basis for a period of one (1) year with the option to extend for two (2) additional one (1) year periods; and WHEREAS, invitations for Bid No. 96-97-083 were mailed to sixteen (16) potential bidders and two (2) responses were received from qualified bidders; and WHEREAS, this contract is to provide roadside flat tire and repair services seven (7) days a week, 24-hours a day for the City of Miami's fleet vehicles; and WHEREAS, funds for this service are available from the Fleet Service Center General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 503001.291301.6.340; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend that the bid received from Round Tire Services, be accepted as the lowest most responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Funds are available from the Fleet Service Center General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 503001.291301.6.340. BACKGROUND: The Fleet Service Center does not have the personnel or equipment to provide roadside flat tire and repair services seven days a week, 24-hours a day for the City of Miami's fleet vehicles. The contracted service is provided at a lower cost than could be provide in-house. The Department of Police has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 96-97-083 for the furnishing of Specialized Flat Tire and Repair Services. Sixteen (16) invitations for bids were mailed and two (2). responses were received. Round Tire Services submitted the lowest most responsible and responsive bid, and is therefore recommended for award.
