HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-97-0486A is J-97-523 7/10/97 rkA RESOLUTION NO. 9 7` 486 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING FOR SPONSORSHIP OF THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF BLACK LAW ENFORCEMENT EXECUTIVES ("NOBLE"), 21ST ANNUAL TRAINING AND EXHIBITION CONFERENCE, TO BE HELD DURING JULY, 1997, IN MIAMI, FLORIDA; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,000.00, FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND FOR SAID FUNDING, SUCH EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN CERTIFIED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH FLORIDA STATE STATUTES, CHAPTER 932.7055, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, Florida State Statute 932.7055, as amended, authorizes expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for law enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami has been chosen as the Host City for the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives "NOBLE") 21st Annual Training and Exhibition Conference to be held during July, 1997; and WHEREAS, said Conference will provide the delegates with valuable information on law enforcement issues; and WHEREAS, funding to cover said expenditures has not been included in the Police Department operating budget and are available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund; WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this Resolution and has determined that the expenditure proposed complies with Florida State Statutes 932.7055, as amended; CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF J U L 10 1997 Resolution No. 97- 486 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Funding for sponsorship of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives ("NOBLE"), 21st Annual Training and Exhibition Conference to be held during July, 1997, in Miami, Florida, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund for said funding, such expenditure having been certified by the Chief of Police as complying with Florida State Statutes, Chapter 932.7055, as amended. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of Tuly. 1997.
