B-6251;" i ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM PROJECT NO. 331070, AS APPROPRIATED BY THE FISCAL YEAR 1995-1996 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT ORDINANCE NO. 11337, AS AMENDED, IN THE AMOUNT OF $116,642.00 TO COVER THE CONTRACT COST AND $20,428.78 TO COVER TIJE ESTIMATED EXPENSES, FOR AN ESTIMATED TOTAL COST OF $137,070.78; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH SAID FIRM. WHEREAS, sealed bids were received April 22, 1997, for "Athalie Range Park Sport Lighting Project - Soccer/Baseball Field, Second Bidding, No. B-6251;" and WHEREAS, the City Manager and die Director of die Department of Public Works recorrunend that the bid from Bennett Electric Service Co. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; acid WHEREAS, die Fiscal Year 1995-1996 Capital Improvement Ordinance 11337, as amended, appropriated monies for die proposed amount of die contract, project expenses, and incidentals under Project No. 322060; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA,- Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in die Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The April 22, 1997 bid of Bennett Electric Service Co., in the proposed amount of $116,642.00, for die project entitled "Adhalie Range Park Sport Lighting Project - Soccer/Baseball Field, Second Bidding, No. B-6251" for die total bid of the proposal, based on hemp sum and unit prices, is hereby accepted at the price stated therein. Section 3. The total estimated project cost of $137,070.78 is hereby allocated from Project No. 331070 as appropriated by die Fiscal Year 1995-1996 Capital Improvement Ordinance 11337, as amended. Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract', in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, on behalf of die City of Miami with Bennett Electric Service Co. for "Athalie Range Park Sport Lighting Project, Second Bidding, No. B-6251," total bid of die proposal. (BES), whose principals are John P. Higgins, President, and Kathleen M. Higgins, Vice President, a company located within the City of Miami, for the project entitled "Athalie Range Park Sport Lighting Project, B- 6251," received April 22, 1997, in the amount of $116,642.00 and authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract on behalf of the City. One City of Miami project was previously awarded to Bennett Electric Service Co.: 1. Hadley Park Sport Lighting Project. BACKGROUND Amount of Bid: $116,642.00 % of Cost Estimate: 97.2% Cost Estimate: $120,000.00 Source of Funds: Project No. 331070, as appropriated by Fiscal Year 1995-1996, CIP Ordinance 11337, as amended. Discussion: The Department of Public Works has evaluated the bids received on April 22, 1997 and determined that the lowest responsible and responsive bid, in the amount of $116,642.00 is from BES. Funds are available to cover the contract cost and for such incidental items as postage, blueprinting, advertising and reproduction costs.
