Home My WebLink AboutR-97-0456e J-97-430 6/29/97 RESOLUTION NO. 9 7` 456 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF BASKETBALL COURTS AT JOSE MARTI PARK BY AAA COURTS, INC., UNDER EXISTING DADE COUNTY CONTRACT NO. 1153-0/98, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, AT A TOTAL COST OF $53,829.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 589301-860, CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 331385; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE. WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has received community input as to the long term improvement needs of Jose Marti Park through various meetings with neighborhood groups and residents; and WHEREAS, this service will provide the installation of two (2) new basketball courts to upgrade Jose Marti Park for the neighborhood youths; and WHEREAS, funds for this service are available from the Department of Community Development Block Grant, Account Code No. 589301-860, Capital Improvement Project No. 331385. WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation recommend the installation of basketball courts from AAA Courts, Inc., awarded under an existing Dade County contract for a total cost of $53,829.00, be approved; CM CONW33zor MEETING Ogr JU L 10 1997 Resolution Na 97-- 456 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this section. Section 2. The furnishing and installation of basketball courts at Jose Marti Park by AAA Courts, Inc., awarded under existing Dade County Contract No. 1153-0198, for the Department of Parks and Recreation, at a total cost of $53,829.00, is hereby approved, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Department of Community Development Block Grant Fund, Account Code No. 589301-860, Capital Improvement Project No. 331385. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a purchase order for this service. Section 4. Funding is available from the Department of Community Development Block Grant, Account Code No. 589301-860, Capital Improvement Project No. 331385. BACKGROUND: The Departments of Purchasing and Parks and Recreation have realized substantial savings utilizing the Dade County contract for the installation of two basketball courts at Jose Marti Park. The Department of Parks and Recreation has received community input as to the long term improvement needs of Jose Marti Park through various meetings with neighborhood groups and residents. This service will provide installation of two new basketball courts for the neighborhood youths. It is therefore, recommended that award be made to AAA Courts, Inc., as the lowest most responsible and responsive vendor under existing Dade County Contract No. 1153-0/98 for the Department of Parks and Recreation. NOTE: The solicitation of Dade County Contract No. 1153-0/98, includes a provision which requires that projects exceeding $50,000.00 must be bid separately in accordance with Dade County Resolution No. 120-83. The relevant provision indicates that it is designed to reduce the likelihood of granting exclusive rights to the successful bidder to receive all orders that may be issued by the County.
