Commissioner: On Thursday, May 29th, the Metro -Dade and City of Miami Police Departments will hold a Host Reception from 6 - 9 pm at the Port of Miami. This reception is an integral part of Attorney General Bob Butterworth's 12th Annual Conference on Preventing Crime in the Black Community. This annual conference has been held in several different locations throughout the state and has attracted over 1,500 participants, many from as far away as California, Nevada and New York. Last year it was held in Orlando. The City of Miami's as well as the County's commitment to host this reception goes back a year ago, when the decision was made to bring the conference to Miami. Metro -Dade Police, the Port of Miami and several Dade County Commissioners have all contributed. We would respectfully request that the City of Miami also contribute to this affair and assist us in welcoming our visitors and making this event one of the most successful ones yet. We earnestly request your cooperation in this matter. Thanks. cc: Chief Warshaw Major Darling . From the desk of... Barbara A.
