Q ") -- q -1 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CONTINUED ENGAGEMENT OF THE LAW FIRM OF DAVIS, SCOTT, WEBER & EDWARDS, TO SERVE AS COUNSEL TO THE CITY OF MIAMI IN CONNECTION WITH THE MEDIATION IN MICHAET, POTTINGER0 PETER CARTER and BERRY YOUNG V _ CITY OF MIAMI, UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE ELEVENTH CIRCUIT, CASE NOS: 91-5316; 92-5145 AND 95-4555, WITH FEES FOR SAID SERVICES NOT TO EXCEED $25,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE SELF-INSURANCE AND INSURANCE TRUST FUND, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 620103-653. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Attorney's continued engagement of the law firm of Davis, Scott, Weber & Edwards to serve as counsel to the City of Miami in connection with the mediation in United States Court Of Appeals For The Eleventh Circuit, Case Nos: 91-5316; 92-5145 & 95-4555 is hereby approved, with fees , therefor, in an amount not to exceed $25,000.00, hereby allocated from the Self -Insurance and Insurance Trust Fund, Account Code No. 620103-653 for said services. COM U.S. Court of Appeals, Case Nos.: 91-5316, 92-5145, 95-4555 REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: The attached resolution provides for an increase in the amount for legal services rendered in the above -referenced lawsuit. The mediation sessions have evolved into a longer process than originally anticipated thereby requiring the assistance and presence of Tom Scott, Esq. At this point, I am unable to predict with any degree of reasonable certainty as to when the mediation process will be concluded, Notwithstanding, representation must be continued and, accordingly, it is requested that you approve an increase in fees for said services in the amount of $25,000, AQJ/rcUW 213 97- 312 1
