RESOLUTION NO. - 305
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPROVING THE APPLICATION BY GOURMET WINE CLUB,
INC., FOR A FIVE-DAY STATE LIQUOR PERMIT FOR THE
DISPLAY BY MANUFACTURERS OR DISTRIBUTORS OF
PRODUCTS LICENSED UNDER THE STATE BEVERAGE LAW,
AND TO ALLOW CONSUMPTION OF SUCH BEVERAGES ON
THE PREMISES OF THE COCONUT GROVE CONVENTION
CENTER, MIAMI, FLORIDA, DURING THE PERIOD OF
JANUARY 21-25, 1998, SUCH APPROVAL BEING A
STATUTORY REQUISITE PRIOR TO THE STATE'S ISSUANCE
OF SAID PERMIT.
WHEREAS, Section 561.421 Temporary Convention Permits, the State Beverage
Law states that in convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an
existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of
county commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than
five calendar days for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed
under the Beverage Law and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the
premises only; and
WHEREAS, the State Beverage Director requires the approval of such permits
issuance from the City Commission for liquor display and consumption during the herein
show to be held at the Coconut Grove Convention Center in January, 1998;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1 . The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution
are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby approves the application by
Gourmet Wine Club, Inc., for a five-day liquor permit to allow display by manufacturers or
distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law and to allow consumption of
such beverages on the premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida,
during the period of January 21 - 25, 1998.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.

Dear Mr. Wright:
According to our conversation on behalf of Gourmet Wine Club and Expo Caribe I would like to
solicit a temporary licquor license during the days of the coming exhibition at the Coconut Grove
Convention Center on January 21 st thru January 25th 1998.
As per our conversation I understand this will be the only license required with a cost of $250
dollars, to operate during the exhibition, and that the Coconut Grove Convention Center will take
responsability in providing us with this license.
I thank you for your kind and prompt attcntion you may give to the present.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Conmission adopt the
attached resolution expressing its approval of the application
for a five-day State liquor permit by Gourmet vdine Club, Inc.,
for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products
licensed under the State Beverage Law, and also for consumption
of such beverages on the premises of the Coconut 'Grove Convention
Center, Miami, Florida, curing the period of January 21-25, 1;9b.

BACKGROUND:
The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities
has prepared the attached legislation. The Commissions approval
of the application of a five-day liquor permit for Gourmet Wine
Club, Inc., pursuant to Section 561.421 TEMPCRARY CCNVENTICN
PERMITS, of the State Beverage Law ohich states that "in
convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where
there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the
incorporated city, town or board of county commissioners, the
director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than
five calender days for the display by manufacutueres or
distributors of proaucts licensed under the Beverage Law; and may
authorize consumption of such beverages -on the premises only".
The State beverage Director requires the request to emanate from
the City Commission. The liquor will be dispensed free of charge
during the Gourmet Wine Club Expo.
