HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-97-0304J-97-260 4/29/97 RESOLUTION NO. 9 7- 304 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPROVING THE APPLICATION BY FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT & HOTEL EXPOSITION, INC., FOR A TWO-DAY STATE LIQUOR PERMIT FOR THE DISPLAY BY MANUFACTURERS OR DISTRIBUTORS OF PRODUCTS LICENSED UNDER THE STATE BEVERAGE LAW, AND TO ALLOW CONSUMPTION OF SUCH BEVERAGES ON THE PREMISES OF THE COCONUT GROVE CONVENTION CENTER, MIAMI, FLORIDA, DURING THE PERIOD OF JULY 26-27, 1997, SUCH APPROVAL BEING A STATUTORY REQUISITE PRIOR TO THE STATE'S ISSUANCE OF SAID PERMIT. WHEREAS, Section 561.421 Temporary Convention Permits, the State Beverage Law states that in convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of county commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than five calendar days for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only; and WHEREAS, the State Beverage Director requires the approval of such permits issuance from the City Commission for liquor display and consumption during the herein show to be held at the Coconut Grove Convention Center in July, 1997; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COIKMSSION MEETING OF MAY 0 7 1997 Resolution No. 9'7r- 304 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby approves the application by Florida International Restaurant & Hotel Exposition, Inc., for a two-day liquor permit to allow display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law and to allow consumption of such beverages on the premises of the Coconut Grove i Convention Center, Miami, Florida, during the period of July, 1997. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of May , 1997. M CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM CAm3 To : Honorable Mayor and DATE : APR 2 5 I1097 FIRE Members of the City Commission SUBJECT: Request from Florida International Restaurant & Hotel Expo., Inc. for a two - FROM : Ed4.d&Marquez, REFERENCES : day liqour permit on City manager 7/26-27/97 ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission, adopt, the attached resolution expressing its approval of the application for a five-day State liquor permit by Florida International Restaurant & hotel Exposition, Inc., for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the State Beverage Law, and also for consumption of such beverages on the premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida, during the period of July 26-27, 1997. (Lessee's request attached.) BACKGROUND: The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities has prepared the attached legislation. The Commission Is approval of the application of a two-day liquor permit for Florida International Restaurant & Hotel Exposition, Inc. pursuant to Section 561.421 TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS, of the State Beverage Law which states that "in convention halls, coliseums, ana similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of county commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than five calender days for the display by nanufacutueres or •distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law; and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only". The State Beverage Director requires the request to emanate from the City Commission. The liquor will be dispensed free of charge during the Florida International Restaurant and Hotel Exposition. 97-- 304
