Asa supporter of the . Sri Design Preservation League for the las... e years, and a Board Member the last two, I have gained an appreciation for the beauty, worth -and importance of historic structures within a community. I have also engaged in the political processes which affect them. As a business owner with an MBA, and as a formerly practicing engineer, I can relate to the hard facts of both finance and restoration. I understand their possibilities as well as their limitations. Finally, as a former Federal employee, I have engaged in the bureaucratic process of government and seen its strengths and weaknesses. I would consider it an honor to be able to use this training and experience for the betterment of our community. Carmen Laracuente - Real Estate Ed Stieve - Citizen Bill Hopper - Citizen Neil Robertson - Citizen As you know, Morningside was designated as the City of Maids first historic district in 1954. The Civic Association takes great pride in its involvement in a variety preservation issues. Annually, MCA coordiates a home tour so that we may share our historic homes with visitors from other parts of the community. This year over 1000 people attended the MCA home tour. The Historic and Enviromneaml Preservation Board is a critical regulatory oversight committee to preserve the character of our historic homes. We support the City's effort to maintain the historic integrity of our neighborhood and would like to serve in an active capacity by having Morningside representatives serving on the MEP Board. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Sincerely, Patrick McCoy President 45 97- 241
