F m n City Clerk CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM 13 DATE January 28, 1997 FILE SUBJECT Nine Appointments Needed to the Commission on the Status of Women REFERENCES: (February 20, 1997 Agenda) ENCLOSURES: (List of Members) The Commission on the Status. of Women was created to inspire in women a desire for self- improvement; to seek and encourage active involvement in community affairs by women; to encourage the participation of women in leadership roles; and to work toward legislation promoting equal rights and equal opportunities for women. Nine appointments are needed at this time: • Commissioner Gort has one nomination. Said seat is presently held by an individual who had been appointed from a slate presented by the board liaison on July 14, 1994 for terns which expired on July 14, 1996. • Commissioner Hernandez has five nominations. Four of said seats are presently held by Rosie Gordon -Wallace, Annette Eisenberg, Clara Porter and Nilsa Velasquez who -had been nominated by former Commissioner Dunn. The fifth seat is presently vacant. • Vice Mayor Regalado has three nominations. Said seats are presently held by individuals who had been appointed from a slate presented by the board liaison on July 14, 1994 for terms which expired on July 14, 1996. For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board.
