SUBJECT Nine Appointments Needed to the
Federal Enterprise Community
Council
REFERENCES: (March 20, 1997 Agenda)
ENCLOSURES: (List of Members)
The Federal Enterprise Community Council was created to monitor the implementation of the
Strategic Plan (based on the premise that real economic opportunity will be created if the
strengths and assets of the wider economy can be linked to the distressed neighborhoods of the
Enterprise Community and to the residents of those neighborhoods); make recommendations to
the County Commission on ways to enhance program effectiveness; recommend uses of
Federal and State funds committed to the Plan; help attract additional involvement, and ensure
that Federal and State funds are used in the manner prescribed by the Plan, to achieve Plan's
goals.
At the Commission meeting of -July 25, 1996, the Commission passed a resolution which was to
nominate five individuals, per neighborhood, to represent the neighborhoods of
Allapattah, Little Havana, Model City, Overtown and Wynwood, from which nominees the
Board of County Commissioners will select two from each neighborhood to serve on the Federal
Enterprise Community Council.
Nine appointments are needed at this time:
• Mayor Carollo has three nominations, one to represent Allapattah, one for Model City and
one for Overtown.
• Vice Mayor Regalado has three nominations, one to represent Allapattah, one for Little
Havana, and one for Wynwood.
• Commissioner Plummer has three nominations, one to represent Little Havana, one for
Model City and one for Overtown.
For your information, attached please find a list of the current members of said board. By copy
of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the March
20, 1997 Commission agenda.
