RESOLUTION NO. 9 7` 211
A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE CUBAN MUNICIPALITIES
FAIR TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE CUBAN MUNICIPALITIES
FAIR CORPORATION ON APRIL 3-6, 1997, ON THE
GROUNDS OF THE FLAGLER DOG TRACK., AUTHORIZING
THAT SAID FAIR SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED AS ONE OF
THE TWO TEMPORARY SPECIAL EVENTS PERMITTED PER
SITE PER YEAR, PURSUANT TO SECTION 906.9 OF
ORDINANCE NO. 11000, THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED; CONDITIONING
SAID AUTHORIZATION HEREIN UPON THE ORGANIZERS
PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES
AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT
AND OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE
AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS
DESIGNEE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Cuban Municipalities Fair to be conducted by the Cuban
Municipalities Fair Corporation on April 3-6, 1997, on the grounds of the Flagler Dog
Track, is hereby authorized and shall not be counted as one of the two temporary special
events permitted per site, per year, pursuant to Section 906.9 of ordinance 11000, the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended.
Section 2. The herein approvals and authorizations are hereby conditioned upon
the organizers paying for all costs of City services and fees associated with said event and
obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or
his designee.

I would like to bring up as a pocket item on the March 27, 1997, Commission Meeting a
draft resolution for the Cuban Municipalities Fair, Co.. Which would be authorizing that
the Cuban Municipalities Fair on April 3-6, 1997, on the grounds of the Flagler Dog
Track would not be considered as one of the two temporary special events permitted per
site per year. Attached is a copy of the letter addressed to City Manager Edward Marquez
and the draft resolution that we received in our office.

Dear Mr. Marques:
The Fifteenth Fair of the Cuban Municipalities in Exile has been scheduled to
take place from April 3rd to the 6th, 1997 on the premises of the parking lot adjacent to
the Flagler Dog Track N. W. 37 Avenue at 7th Street, Miami. In order to proceed with
the organization of the event we need your approval for the use of such premises, and that
this event not be counted as one of the two allocated events per site per year, as specified
in ordenance 9500 regarding these types of activities.
We hereby, are respecttfully requesting from such approval so that our event, now
on its fifteenth anniversary, may turn into another succesful "FERIA" as it has in the past.
The schedule for the Fifteenth National Fair is as follows:
Thursday
April 3
from 6 p.m. toll p.m.
Friday
April 4
from 6 p.m. to 12 p. m.
Saturday
April 5
from 2 p.m. to 12 midnight
Sunday
April 6
from 2 p.m. to 11 p. m.
In addition to the waiver , we are hereby requesting that the City Commision
waive all those fees that are waivable by City code in correction with the Cuban
Municipalities Fair to be help April 3 - 6, 1997 at the Flagler Dog Track.
