Funding is to be from the Police Department, Fleet Service Center, Fiscal Year 1996-1997 Operating Budget, Account 503001.291301.6.715. Background The Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste (GSA/SW), Vehicle and Equipment and Administration (VEA) Division, has one central fueling facility which is geographically limited in its ability to efficiently and cost-effectively provide fueling services to all City vehicles. Metropolitan Dade County has numerous automated fueling facilities located strategically throughout Dade County that provide fueling services to other Dade County municipalities and State agencies operating within Dade County. These facilities are open seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day. Opening and operating additional fuel service stations to satisfy all City fueling requirements would not be as cost-effective as contracting these interagency services with Metropolitan Dade County. We also have the added advantage of purchasing fuel at a lower cost due to the large quantities that Metropolitan Dade County orders. Fuel costs are figured on the following charges: (1) Base Cost (Dade County's actual price which changes weekly depending on the current weekly price.) (2) Surcharge (18 cents per gallon which covers environmental and administrative costs.) (3) Tax (A 9.5 cent fuel tax credit for municipalities is applied to this figure.) b7- 190 '
