RESOLUTION NO,9 7 - 159
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ENDORSING
MARCH 27, 1997 AS "STOP DAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH".
WHEREAS, excellence in education is dependent on safe, secure, and peaceful school
settings; and
WHEREAS, the safety and well-being of many students, teachers, and school staff are
j unnecessarily jeopardized by crime and violence, such as substance abuse, gangs, bullying, poor

i discipline, vandalism, and absenteeism, in our schools; and
WHEREAS, given the opportunity, students can band together in a unified effort to rid their
campuses of school violence; and
WHEREAS, the observance of "Stop Day Enough Is Enough" will substantially promote
efforts to provide all of our schools with positive and safe learning climates and make students more
willing participants in curbing and reporting violent acts and behavior; and
WHEREAS, the School Board of Dade County, Florida, initiated the concept of designating
March 27, 1997 as "Stop Day Enough is Enough" and the Miami City Commission wishes to
endorse this observance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby endorses March 27, 1997, as "Stop Day
Enough is Enough".

Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.

WHEREAS, the observance of STOP DAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH will substantially promote
efforts to provide all our schools with positive and safe learning climates and make students
more willing Participants in curbing and reporting violent Acts and behavior;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The School Board of Dade County, Florida, approve Resolution No, 97-09 of The School Board
of Dade County, Florida, endorsing March 27, 1997, as STOP DAY ENOUGH 1S ENOUGH.
A copy of this resolution is placed in the permanent records of this Board.
