RESOLUTION NO. 9 7" 132
A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 96-897,
WHICH CHANGED THE COMPENSATION PROVIDED TO
MEMBERS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD TO $1.00
PER YEAR, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1997, THEREBY
PROVIDING THAT THE EFFECTIVE DATE FOR SAID
CHANGE SHALL BE APRIL 16, 1997; AND
AUTHORIZING THAT CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GENERAL EMPLOYEES' AND SANITATION
EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT TRUST AND THE FIRE
FIGHTERS' AND POLICE OFFICERS' RETIREMENT
TRUST BE ADJUSTED IN THE SAME MANNER.
WHEREAS, City Charter Section 36(L) authorizes the City
Commission to determine the salaries of the Civil Service Board
members; and

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 96-897, adopted December 12, 1996,
changed the compensation provided to Civil Service Board members
I to $1.00 per year, effective January 1, 1997; and

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission that the
compensation change become effective as of April 16, 1997, and
not January 1, 1997 as originally adopted; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to City Code Sections 40-202(D) and
40-227(D), non -employee trustees of the City of Miami Fire

Fighters' and Police Officers' Retirement Trust ("FIPO") and the
General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust
("GESE") shall be compensated at any given time in the same
manner as are members of the City's Civil Service Board;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. Resolution No. 96-897,adopted December 12,
1996, is hereby amended in the following particulars:11
"Section 1. The compensation provided to
members of the Civil Service Board is hereby changed
to $1.00 per year, effective January 1997

Section 3. It is hereby further authorized that
compensation provided for certain trustees of the City of Miami
Fire Fighters' and Police Officers' Retirement Trust ("FIPO") and
the General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust
("GESE") shall be adjusted in the same manner as set forth in
Section 2 hereinabove and pursuant to Sections 40-202(D) and
40-227(D) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged.
