Plummer City of Miami 444 S.W. 2nd Avenue Miami, FL 33130 Dear Commissioner Plummer: Dade Heritage Trust has established a City of Miami Cemetery Task Force. We are asking you to make this task force a City Board that would seek protection, SOCiII-Ity and beautification of one of Miami's landmarks, the City Cemetery. No doubt you are aware of the vandalism, crime and other problems that have occurred there in the past year. One of our tasks is to locate funding to make it a more secure place. We will need improved fencing, lighting, etc. We have a dedicated group of people who are working on these and other solutions. The cemetery's next door neighbor, Temple Israel's congregation, has taken an interest in our task force as well as the Flowering Tree Society, The Miami Beautification Committee, the African American committee of Dade Heritage Days and other environmental groups. We hope to bring renewal to this historic place. Please inform us what we need to do to become a Board to the City of Miami. Sincerely, Enid C. Pinkney, Chairperson' City of Miami City Cemetery Task Force g 7- 114 Historic Preservation Center: 190 Southeast Twelfth Terrace, Miami, Florida 33131 • Phone (305) 358-9572 / Fox (305) 3S8-116.9 i
