HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-97-0086J-97-101 2/10/97 RESOLUTION NO. 9 7 " 86 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE KIWANIS CLUB OF LITTLE HAVANA IN THE AMOUNT OF $500.00; GREENBERG, TRAURIG, HOFFMAN, LIPOFF, ROSEN, & QUENTEL, P.A., (THROUGH THE DADE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, INC.) IN THE AMOUNT OF $500.00; VALSAN OF MIAMI IN THE AMOUNT OF $250.00; AND DIGITAL DRAFTING SYSTEMS IN THE AMOUNT OF $100.00, USED TO DEFRAY THE COSTS OF STAGING THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT'S ANNUAL "SNOW IN THE SUNSHINE" EVENT HELD DECEMBER 21, 1996; SAID DONATIONS TO BE DEPOSITED IN THE RECREATION ACTIVITY CONSOLIDATED SPECIAL REVENUE FUND. WHEREAS, on Saturday December 21, 1996, the Department of Parks and Recreation presented the annual "Snow in the Sunshine" event at the Orange Bowl's South Parking Lot; and WHEREAS, more than 1,000 children from our community attended this event which featured food, rides, music, a special visit from Santa Claus, and twenty-five (25) tons of snow; and WHEREAS, the financial contributions donated by The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, Greenberg Traurig Hoffman Lipoff Rosen & Quentel, P.A. (through the Dade Community Foundation, Inc.), Valsan of Miami, and Digital Drafting Systems, assisted the Parks and Recreation Department in defraying the cost of this event; CITY COMrMSSIQ1d MF,E- TU,7G OF FED ?. 0 1997 Resolution Icc7,,0, �� L7 11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The financial contributions from: The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, in the amount of $500.00; Greenberg, Traurig, Hoffman, Lipoff, Rosen, & Quentel, P.A., (through the Dade Community Foundation, Inc.), in the amount of $500.00; Valsan of Miami in the amount of $250.00; and Digital Drafting Systems in the amount of $!00.00, used to defray the costs of staging the Parks and Recreation Department's annual "Snow in the Sunshine" event held December 21, 1996, are hereby accepted for deposit into the Recreation Activity Consolidated Special Revenue Fund. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution formally accepting financial contributions from The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana in the amount of $500.00; Greenberg Traurig Attorneys at Law (through the Dade Community Foundation, Inc.) in the amount of $5.00.00; Valsan of Miami in the amount of $250.00; and Digital Drafting Systems in the amount of $100.00 used to defray the cost for staging the Department of Parks and Recreation's annual "Snow in the Sunshine" event. The financial contributions donated by The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, Greenberg Traurig Attorneys at Law (through the Dade Community Foundation, Inc.), Valsan of Miami, and Digital Drafting Systems assisted the Parks and Recreation Department in defraying the costs for this event. These donations will be deposited in the Recreation Activity Consolidated Special Revenue Fund. 97— A. -
