HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-97-0059J-97-75 1/23/97 W RESOLUTION NO. 9 7 - 5 9 A RESOLUTION CODESIGNATING NORTHEAST 21ST STREET FROM .NORTHEAST 2ND AVENUE TO BISCAYNE BOULEVARD, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "DON F. BACARDI MASSO WAY"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO TRANSIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE OFFICES DESIGNATED HEREIN. WHEREAS, the Edgewater community would like to recognize the founder of Bacardi Martini, USA, Don Facundo Bacardi Masso, for enhancing the community with their enthusiasm and commitment to its residents; and WHEREAS, the Bacardi family is held in the highest esteem by all who know them for their dedication to providing a professional backdrop for the City of Miami and its residents; and WHEREAS, Bacardi Martini, USA, has sponsored events that assist the Edgewater Economic Development Corporation in helping local businesses create and or retain jobs; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 107G1, adopted July 12, 1990, created the Miami Street Codesignation Committee and entrusted said committee with the responsibility of reviewing street Codesignation requests and making recommendations to the City Commission in its determination as to whether or not a street should be codesignated or a marker or plaza should be designated; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF JAB! 2 3 1997 (, Resolution. No. WHEREAS, pursuant to the City Commission's directive, the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee, at its meeting of January 21, 1997, reviewed the Administration's proposal for a street Codesignation for "Don F. Bacardi Masso Way" subject to the conditions set forth by the Committee at that meeting; and WHEREAS, the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee at its meeting of January 21, 1997, recommended the codesignation of Northeast 21st Street from Northeast 2nd Avenue to Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida, as "Don F. Bacardi Masso Way" and further recommended implementation of said proposal subject to the conditions set forth by the Committee at that meeting; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Northeast 21st Street from Northeast 2nd Avenue to Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida, is hereby codesignated as "Don F. Bacardi Masso Way". Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit it a copy of this Resolution to the Police Department, Department of Fire - Rescue, the Department of General Services Administration/Solid Waste, Dade County Public Works Department and the United States Postal Service. - 2 - 97- 59 Section 4.
