A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS
TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION ADVISORY BOARD FOR TERMS
AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
appointed as members of the City of Miami Affirmative Action
Advisory Board, each member to serve a term as designated herein,
or until the nominating commissioner leaves office, whichever
occurs first:

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing
the appointment of seven (7) individuals to serve on the Affirmative Action Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND:
The Office of . Equal Opportunity/Diversity Programs respectfully requests the appointment of
seven (7) individuals to the Affirmative Action Advisory Board. Hispanics are under represented
on the Board, comprising of 63%, compared to 66%, respectfully, of Miami general population.
Mayor Carrollo has two (2) appointments. Commissioner Regalado has two (2) appointments as a
result of his election to the Commission. The following Board members were removed due to
absences of four (4) meetings in a calendar year in accordance with Ordinance 11130, Section 2-
430, Attendance requirement: Dr. Ramiro Marrero (Commissioner Gort's appointment), Robert
Grill (Commissioner Plummer's appointment), and Sam Mason (Commissioner Dawkins'
appointment). Board member Jesus Roiz, originally appointed by Mayor Clark,. desires
reappointment.
