A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS
TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF THE LATIN QUARTER
REVIEW BOARD FOR TERMS AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
appointed as members of the Latin Quarter Review Board, each
member to serve a term expiring May 5, 1997, or until the
nominating commissioner leaves office, whichever occurs first:

Latin Quarter Review Board

The (Latin Quarter Review Board was created to certify whether the design of
developments/improvements within the Latin Quarter district are in conformance with Latin
Quarter guidelines. The board is to recommend to the Director of the Department of C'unimu:::;
Planning and Revitalization modifications/amendmentsto Latin Quarter guidelines.
Please be aware that City Code Section 62-78 states in part:
"(1) Two (2) members may be registered architects in the state. If a
registered architect, each such member shall have had five years'
experience after registration in the practice of his profession and
must either be a resident of or have his principal place of business in
the city.
(2) Two (2) other members may be professional engineers, registered
landscape architects, or registered architects.
(3) One (1) member may be an architectural historian or a historian."
City Code Section 2-429 states:
The terms of office of the members of each board shall run concurrently with
the term of office of the commissioner that nominates each member. When
the nominating commissioner leaves office the board member's term shall
expire."
Four (4) appointments are needed at this time:
Mayor Carollo has two nominations. Said seats are presently held by Tessi Garcia -Smith
and Walter Martinez, who had been nominated by former Mayor Clark, for terms which
expired on May 5, 1996.
• Commissioner Hernandez has two nominations. Said seats are presently held by Mario
Pestonit and Orlando Naranjo, who had been nominated by former Commissioner Dunn, for
terms which will expire on May 5, 1997.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the
December 12, 1996 Commission agenda.
