RECOMMENDATION:
ION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
accepting a grant for the Department of Parks and Recreation Programs for Persons with
Disabilities, from Metropolitan Dade County, Florida in the amount of $78,049 for the
purchase of two transportation vans and the production and dissemination of public

BACKGROUND:
The Department of Parks and Recreation Programs for Persons with Disabilities has
provided community based recreation and independent living skills support and services
to persons with disabilities throughout Dade County since 1973. Over two hundred and
fifty program participants are serviced on a weekly basis. Transportation is provided to
and from the group home, agency, school or the individual's home, making it a key
component of the City's Program. This grant from Metropolitan Dade County will
enable the City of Miami Programs for Persons with Disabilities to replace two of their
vehicles, making them safe and more efficient.
