HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-11558J-97-573 9/12/97 ORDINANCE NO. 11558 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED:"MIAMI CITY HALL MASTER PLAN PROJECT GRANT" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF SAID PROJECT IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $15,000, CONSISTING OF A $7,500 GRANT FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF STATE, DIVISION OF HISTORICAL RESOURCES, AND A $7,500 CASH CONTRIBUTION FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami desires to conduct a feasibility study on the rehabilitation of Miami City Hall in order to determine ways to bring back significant original features, stabilize the basement and prevent further flood damage; and WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted a Resolution this date, authorizing the City Manager to accept a grant in the amount of $7,500 from the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, to prepare a preservation master plan for the rehabilitation of Miami City Hall; and WHEREAS, the $7,500 local match requirement of the grant will be provided from the Department of Planning and Development FY 1997-1998 Operating Budget; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following Special Revenue Fund is hereby established as described herein: Fund Title: Miami City Hall Master Plan Project Grant Resources: Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources Grant $ 7,500 Contribution from City of Miami Department of Planning and Development FY 1997-1998 Operating Budget $ 7,500 Appropriation: Miami City Hall Master Plan Project Grant $15,000 Section 3. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 4. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 5. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final reading and adoption thereof. PASSED ON FIRST READING BY TITLE ONLY this 23rd day of September 1 1997. These funds will consist of a grant in the amount of $7,500 from the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, and a cash contribution of $7,500 from the Department of Planning and Development BACKGROUND: The Department of Planning and Development has obtained a grant in the amount of $7,500 from the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, to prepare a preservation master plan for Miami City Hall. This plan will contain a feasibility study for the rehabilitation of the building, and will focus on ways to bring back significant original features, stabilize the basement, and prevent further flood damage. If the City Commission accepts this grant, a Special Revenue Fund must be established.
