ORDINANCE NO. 115 2 5
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-922 OF THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS
AMENDED, TO PROVIDE FOR A MAXIMUM OF TWO (2)
EXCUSED ABSENCES PER CALENDAR YEAR FOR ANY
MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL TRADE BOARD BY A
MAJORITY VOTE OF ITS MEMBERS; CONTAINING A
REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to allow the members of
the International Trade Board up to a maximum of two (2) excused
absences during a calendar year; and
WHEREAS, Section 2-922 of the Code of the City of Miami,
Florida, as amended, must be amended to provide for said
absences;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Ordinance are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.

Section 2. Section 2-922 of the Code of the City of
Miami, Florida, as amended, concerning the International Trade
Board, is hereby amended in the following particulars:l/
"Sec 2-922.
Membership.
(b) The board shall be constituted as follows:
(4) Members of the international trade board who are
absent for more than three (3) successive meetings
or four iinpxcused meetings within one calendar
year shall automatically be removed and the
position declared vacant by operation of law.
Notice of such removal is to be provided by the
chairperson, in writing, to the city clerk. A
maximum of two absences per calendar year may be
excused for any member by a majority vote of the

Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar
as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of
this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. If any section, part of section, paragraph,
clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the
remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty
(30) days after final reading and adoption thereof.

It is respectfully requested that the City Commission adopt the attached ordinance
amending section 2-922 of the code of the City of Miami, to provide for a
maximum of two (2) excused absences per calendar year for any member of the
International Trade Board by a majority vote of its members.
BACKGROUND:
Currently, members of the International Trade Board who are absent for more than
three (3) successive meetings, or four unexcused meetings within one calendar year,
shall automatically be removed and the position declared vacant by operation of
law. A maximum of two (2) absences per calendar year may be excused for any
member by a majority vote of the Board.
