AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-7 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, THEREBY INCREASING THE SERVICE CHARGE ON REFUSED CHECKS; ADDING A NEW SECTION 2-8 DEFINING ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF PAYMENT AND REQUIRING CERTAIN IDENTIFICATION FROM THE PERSON ISSUING A CHECK, DRAFT OR ORDER; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION, SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. i WHEREAS, Article I, Section 2-7 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, establis e a service charge of five i dollars ($5.00) on refused checks; a WHEREAS, most local banks 1 v�/`a refused check service charge of twenty-five dollars $ ); and WHEREAS, the City has not i creased its service charge on bad checks for more than t n ( 0)years; and, WHEREAS, the Cit i t necessary to identify acceptable forms of payment a jto equire identification when a check is issued or del iverecXfor/ payment of money or its equivalent for any fee, lien,V icL3-Je, tax, certificate, penalty, or other matter; and WHEREA the City Commission, after careful consideration of this matt r, deems it advisable and in the best interest of the general lfare of. the City of Miami to amend the City Code as herei fter et forth; N HEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF IAMI, FLORIDA: L.
