Re: Seyhold Building - Valet parking
Dear Mr. Marquez,
I atn writing you on behalf of my clients, Freddy Strauss, Robert Buchwald and Leonor
Rancano. These individuals own and are representing their interests as well as a consortium of
jewelry store owners in the Seyhold Building (36 NB 1" Street, Miami), regarding the loss of the
valet parking services for the Seybold Building. Our clients, %rithout notice, were advised by City
of Miami Fotice Department officials that the building will no longer be allowed to operate valet
parking services. immediately, police officers began to ticket persons attempting w park at the valet
area. We were also advised that numerous owners, prospective clients and valet parking personnel
were harassed and threatened with arrest as a result of enforcement of this new policy_
This enforcement action has had an extremely adverse effect on our clients, the tenants and
jewelers of this internationally recognized landmark in our city. Store owners have estimated
reduced revenues by 30-40% as a result of this enforcement action. Our clients have advertised the
availability of valet parking services and now must endure and confront complaints from regular
customers upon their ftnding that valet parking is not available.
This letter is to request a personal appearance at the next City Cora+adssion meeting in order
to address this critical issue, which has adversely affected our clients. Many of the tenants/jewelers
will be on hand with me in'order to provide first hand testimony of the adverse effects the taking of
the valet parking operation has had on their businesses. Our intention at said meeting will be to
request a license for the continued operation of valet parldng services along the curbside loading
zone adjacent to the Seyhold Building on NE V Street,
