A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FEES
FOR LEGAL SERVICES PROVIDED TO THE CITY OF
MIAMI BY DAVIS, SCOTT, WEBER & EDWARDS
("DAVIS") IN CONNECTION WITH THE LAWSUIT,
DECOMA MIAMI ASSOCIATES, LTD. VS. CITY OF
MIAMI AND MIAMI SPORTS AND EXHIBITION
AUTHORITY, ELEVENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT COURT,
CASE NO. 96-12055 CA-02, WITH FEES FOR SAID
SERVICES NOT TO EXCEED $19,100; FURTHER
CONTINUING THE ENGAGEMENT OF DAVIS IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $50,000; ALLOCATING
FUNDS THEREFOR, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$69,100.00, FROM THE SELF-INSURANCE INSURANCE
TRUST FUND, ACCOUNT CODE
NO. 515001.624401.6.661.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The payment of fees for legal services
provided to the City of Miami by the law firm of Davis, Scott,
Weber & Edwards ("Davis") in connection with the lawsuit, Decoma
Miami Associates, Ltd. vs. City Of Miami And Miami Sports and
Exhibition Authority, Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court, Case
No. 96-12055 CA 02, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor in
an amount not to exceed $19,100, hereby allocated from the
Self -Insurance and Insurance Trust Fund, Account Code
No. 515001.624401.6.661.
Section 2. The City Attorney's continuing engagement of
Davis for said case is hereby authorized, with funds therefor

Self -Insurance and Insurance Trust Fund, Account Code

Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.1/

the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the city Commission.

Decoma Miami ssociates, Ltd. vs. City of Miami and the Miami Sports and
Exhibition Authority (J-98-1194)
The attached proposed Resolution seeks authorization for the City Attorney's continuing
engagement of the law firm of Davis, Scott, Weber & Edwards, P.A. for legal services provided to the
City of Miami in connection with the case of Decoma Miami Associates, Ltd. vs. City of Miami and
Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority, in the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Case
No. 96-12055 CA-02, in an amount not to exceed $19,100.00.
Additionally, litigation of this matter has become protracted and, therefore, I am seeking
authorization for the continued engagement of Davis, Scott, Weber & Edwards, P.A. for the case, in an
amount not to exceed $50,000,00.
Funds for said services, in an amount not to exceed $69,100.00, will be allocated from the Self -
Insurance and Insurance Trust Fund, Account Code No. 515001.624401.6.661.

Attached is a copy of a resolution which is being placed on the City Commission Agenda for the
meeting of December 8, 1998. If approved, the payment of fees for legal services rendered and the City
Attorney's continuing engagement of Davis, Scott, Weber & Edwards, P.A. in connection with the case
of Decoma Miami Associate. vs. the City of Miami and the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority, in
the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Case No. 96-12055 CA-02, will be authorized.
Funds for said services, in an amount not to exceed $69,100.00, will be allocated from the Self -
Insurance and Insurance Trust Fund, Index Code No. 515001.624401.6.661.
Please indicate your review and approval hereinbelow and return this original memorandum to
