RESOLUTION NO.9 8 -119 6
A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $18,000 FROM FY 198-99 BUDGETED FUNDS
OF THE CIVIL SERVICE OFFICE, ACCOUNT
NO. 240101-250, FOR PAYMENT OF COMPENSATION
TO SPECIAL COUNSEL, INCLUDING ANY REQUIRED
RELATED LITIGATION SERVICES, FOR THE CIVIL
SERVICE BOARD.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. An amount not to exceed $18,000 is hereby
allocated from FY 198-99 Budgeted Funds of the Civil Service
Office, Account No. 240101-250, for payment of compensation to
Special Counsel, including any required related litigation
services, for the Civil Service Board.11
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective

If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.

The attached proposed Resolution has been prepared for your consideration to provide
compensation, in the amount of $18,000.00, for Special Counsel to the Civil Service Board.
The services of special counsel as legal advisor to the Civil Service Board are required as the
City Attorney cannot represent and prosecute violators of actions in conflict with Civil Service
Rules and Regulations before the Civil Service Board.
Funds for said compensation are available from Fiscal Year `98-99 budgeted funds of the
Civil Service Office, Account No. 240101-250. The compensation is payable as earned during
the period of such counsel's employment. Services provided by Special Counsel shall include
any related litigation services required by the Civil Service Board.

Allocation of Funds for Special Counsel to the Civil Service Board (J-98-1150)
Attached is a copy of a resolution which is being placed on the City Commission Agenda for the
meeting of December 8, 1998. If approved, payment of compensation, in the amount of $18,000.00, for
Special Counsel to the Civil Service Board will be authorized.
Funds for said compensation are available from Fiscal Year `98-99 budgeted funds of the Civil Service
Office, Account No. 240101-250. The compensation is payable -as earned during the period of such
counsel's employment.
Please indicate your review and approval hereinbelow and return this original memorandum to
Beverly Solomon, Legislative Coordinator, of this office as soon as possible.
