RESOLUTION NO. 9 8 — 10 6 8
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT THE DONATION OF THIRTY (30) SENEGAL
DATE PALM TREES FROM THE MONTGOMERY BOTANICAL
CENTER, VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $200,000, TO
BE RELOCATED AND PLANTED ON WATSON ISLAND AT
NO COST TO THE CITY FOR FUTURE USE AT THE
PARROT JUNGLE & GARDENS OF WATSON ISLAND
BOTANICAL GARDEN ATTRACTION.
WHEREAS, the Montgomery Botanical Center is desirous of
donating thirty (30) Senegal Date Palm trees, valued at
approximately $200,000, to the City of Miami to be relocated and
planted on Watson Island at no cost to the City; and
WHEREAS, the palm trees are intended for future use at the
Parrot Jungle & Gardens of Watson Island botanical garden
attraction;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized11 to
accept a donation of thirty (30) Senegal Date Palm trees from the
Montgomery Botanical Center valued at approximately $200,000 to
be relocated and planted on Watson Island at no cost to the City
of future use at the Parrot Jungle & Gardens of Watson Island
botanical garden attraction.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.Z/

l� The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all
requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not
limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
