It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution,
authorizing funding of Neat Stuff, Inc., and allocating funds therefor, in an amount not to exceed
$25,000.00. Funding is to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, from Project
Numbers 690001, 690002, and 690003.
BACKGROUND
The Miami Police Department supports organizations such as Neat Stuff, Inc. This organization
was founded and operated by seasoned volunteer child advocates with over 150 combined years of
experience. In operation a little over one year, it has provided free new and appropriate clothing
for approximately 3,000 abused and abandoned children who live in the City of Miami in State
supported foster care. Neat Stuff, Inc., will use this contribution to: 1) expand its most successful
and innovative program of clothing children from its current 3,000 youngsters to 6,000; 2) enable
it to move to permanent and larger quarters; and 3) to train eight teenage girls, to have grown up in
foster care, in basic skills needed to be gainfully employed.
