J 9 9 9 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE BAYFRONT PARK MANAGEMENT TRUST (EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR) TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH LESTER PANCOAST, FAIA, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $8,000.00 FOR THE PROVISION OF ADDITIONAL ARCHITECTURAL AND CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION SERVICE FOR THE BAYFRONT PARK MANAGEMENT TRUST (TRUST) IN CONNECTION WITH CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE TO THE MILDRED AND CLAUDE PEPPER BAYFRONT PARK (PARK); ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM, "BAYFRONT PARK IMPROVEMENTS", PROJECT NO. 331401. WHEREAS, the City of Miami appropriated $1,000,000 for capital improvement projects at the Mildred and Claude Pepper Bayfront Park ("Park"), pursuant to Capital Improvement Ordinance No. 11623, as amended; and WHEREAS, the Trust has entered into a Valet Parking Agreement with Bayfront Ventures, owner of the Casino Princesa, a gaming vessel to be moored at the north end dock in the Park; and WHEREAS, the valet parking area needs to be completed for the grand opening of the Casino Princesa; and WHEREAS, additional architectural services will be required CITY C4KMSZON MEETING QF 0 C T 13 1998 Remokwon .�-9 09, of Lester Pancoast prior to the grand opening of the valet parking area which will require an increase in the contract in the amount of $8,000.00; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Executive Director of the Trust is hereby authorizedll to execute an amendment, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to the Professional Services Agreement with Lester Pancoast, FAIA, in an amount not to exceed $8,000.00 for the provision of additional architectural and construction supervision services for the Trust in connection with capital improvements to be made to the Park, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Capital Improvement Program, "Bayfront Park Improvements", Project No. 331401. Section 3. It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission allow the Bayfront Park Management Trust to amend it's professional services agreement with Lester Pancoast, FAIA, in an amount not to exceed $ 8,000 to provide architectural design supervision services to the Bayfront Park Management Trust and the City of Miami in connection with capital improvements to be made to Bayfront Park, Valet Parking Area with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Capital Improvement program, "Bayfront Park Improvements", Project No. 331401. BACKGROUND: The Bayfront Park Management Trust has successfully managed Bayfront Park with the goal of ensuring maximum community involvement. The Trust has entered into a Valet Parking Agreement with Bayfront Ventures, owner of the Casino Princesa, a gaming vessel to be mored at the north end dock in Bayfront Park. The valet parking area needs to be completed for the grand opening of the Casino Princesa, and additional architectural services will be required of Lester Pancoast. Lester Pancoast, FAIR, has long been involved with the physical structure of Bayfront Park and worked with park designer Isamu Noguchi and is intimately familiar with Noguchi's plan for Bayfront.
