HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-98-0998J-98-967 10/1/98 RESOLUTION NO. 9 8- 9y 8 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE BAYFRONT PARK MANAGEMENT TRUST (EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR) TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH DAVID PLUMMER & ASSOCIATES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $17,500.00 FOR THE PROVISION OF ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE BAYFRONT PARK MANAGEMENT TRUST (TRUST) IN CONNECTION WITH CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE TO THE MILDRED AND CLAUDE PEPPER BAYFRONT PARK (PARK); ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM, "BAYFRONT PARK IMPROVEMENTS", PROJECT NO. 331401. WHEREAS, the City of Miami appropriated $1,000,000 for capital improvement projects at the Mildred and Claude Pepper Bayfront Park ("Park"), pursuant to capital Improvement Ordinance No. 11623, as amended; and WHEREAS, the Trust has entered into a Valet Parking Agreement with Bayfront Ventures, owner of the Casino Princesa, a gaming vessel to be moored at the north end dock in the Park; and WHEREAS, the valet parking area needs to be completed for the grand opening of the Casino Princesa; and WHEREAS, additional engineering services will be required My NIU33i01f MMUG OF OCT 13W8 Aowlutim No. 9C7¢Q' 998. from David Plummer & Associates prior to the grand opening of the valet parking area which will require an increase in the contract in the amount of $17,500.00; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Executive Director of the Trust is hereby authorizedll to execute an amendment, in a fonn acceptable to the City Attorney, to the Professional Services Agreement with David Plummer & Associates, in an amount not to exceed $17,500.00 for the provision of additional engineering services for the Trust in connection with capital improvements to be made to the Park, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Capital Improvement Program, "Bayfront Park Improvements", Project No. 331401. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective 1� The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. Donald Warshaw City Manager RECOMMENDATION: Subject: Bayfront Park Management Trust Professional Services Agreement With David Plummer & Associates For City Commission Meeting of - It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission allow the Bayfront Park Management Trust to amend it's professional services agreement with David Plummer & Associates, in an amount not to exceed $17,500 to provide architectural design services to the Bayfront Park Management Trust and the City of Miami in connection with capital improvements to be made to Bayfront Park, Valet Parking Area with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Capital Improvement program, "Bayfront Park Improvements", Project No. 331401. BACKGROUND: The Bayfront Park Management Trust has successfully managed Bayfront Park with the goal of ensuring maximum community involvement. The Trust has entered into a Valet Parking Agreement with Bayfront Ventures, owner of the Casino Princesa, a gaming vessel to be mored at the north end dock in Bayfront Park. The valet parking area needs to be completed for the grand opening of the Casino Princesa, and additional design and engineering services will be required of David Plummer & Associates.
