A RESOLUTION REAPPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS
AND CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF AN
INDIVIDUAL AS MEMBERS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION ADVISORY BOARD FOR TERMS
AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
reappointed as members of the City of Miami Affirmative Action
Advisory Board, each member to serve a term expiring February 8,
1999, or until the nominating Commissioner leaves office,
whichever occurs first:

The Affirmative Action Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City
Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative, action plan. The
board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to
the Personnel Department.
Five appointments and one confirmation are needed at this time:
• Commissioner Plummer has two nominations for seats currently vacant due to the
resignation of Vicky Leiva and excessive absences of Robert Grill.
• Commissioner Gort has two nominations for seats currently held by Ramiro Marrero and
Nora Hernandez Hendrix, whose terms have expired.
• Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for seat currently held by Ivan Barrett who had
been nominated by former Commissioner Hernandez.
• The Commission at large is being requested to confirm the appointment of Lt. Edward
Pidermann as representative of the Miami International Association of Firefighers.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the
September 8, 1998 Commission agenda.
