A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING REIMBURSEMENT TO
THE CITY OF MIAMI GENERAL FUND, IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED $600,024.00, FROM THE LAW
ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NUMBERS
690001, 690002 AND 690003, SUCH EXPENDITURES
HAVING BEEN CERTIFIED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE
AS COMPLYING WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF THE
TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING" AND
FLORIDA STATUTE, §932.7055, AS AMENDED.
WHEREAS, the Department of the Treasury's "Guide to Equitable
Sharing" and Florida Statute, §932.7055, as amended, authorize the
expenditure of shared cash or proceeds forfeited for law
enforcement purposes; and
WHEREAS, the payment of salaries and overtime costs of police
officers and support staff assigned to investigations and
operations that result in seizures and forfeitures is authorized
as an appropriate expenditure of these funds; and
WHEREAS, in FY-97/98, these costs were paid out of the
General Fund due to the lack of available funding in the Law
Enforcement Trust Fund; and
WHEREAS, the sum of $600, 024 .00 is now available in the City
of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund to reimburse the General Fund;
and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this

Resolution and has determined that the proposed expenditure
complies with the Department of the Treasury's "Guide to Equitable
Sharing" and Florida Statute, §932.7055, as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. Reimbursement to the City of Miami General Fund,
in an amount not to exceed $600,024.00, is hereby authorized, with
funds therefor hereby allocated from the City of Miami Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Numbers 690001, 690002 and 690003,
such expenditures having been certified by the Chief of Police as
complying with the Department of the Treasury's, "Guide to
Equitable Sharing" and Florida Statute, §932.7055, as amended.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution,
authorizing the reimbursement of monies to the General Fund towards the City of Miami's
Recovery Plan, and allocating funds therefor, in an amount not to exceed $600,024.00.
Funding is to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, from Project Numbers 690001,
690002 and 690003.
BACKGROUND
The City's Recovery Plan provides for $1,808,024.00 in Law Enforcement Trust Fund monies
towards reimbursing the General Fund for salaries, fringe benefits, and overtime costs of officers
and civilian support personnel assigned to investigations and operations that have resulted in
seizures and/or forfeitures. There is currently $600,024.00 available at this time for that purpose.
This amount concludes the total allocation of the $1,808,024.00 committed ($400,000 allocated on
May, 1998, $408,000 allocated on June, 1998, and $400,000 allocated on July, 1998).
