HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-98-0833J-98-862 8/19/98 RESOLUTION NO. 9 8 833 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RENEW THE CITY OF MIAMI'S 1998 MEMBERSHIP, IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,487, IN THE UNITED STATES CONFERENCE OF MAYORS, WITH FUNDS THEREFOR HEREBY ALLOCATED FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, ACCOUNT NO. 920210-760. WHEREAS, the City of Miami has traditionally maintained membership in the United States Conference of Mayors (the "Conference"); and WHEREAS, the 1998 membership fee of $9,487 has not been paid; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to renew the City of Miami's membership in the Conference; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to renew the City of Miami's 1998 membership, in the amount of $9,487, in the United States Conference of Mayors, with funds SEP 8 1998 Resolution No. 98 - 833 therefor hereby allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Account No. 920210-760. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayorlj. Warshaw City Manager RECOMMENDATION: CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA -CA=8 INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM DATE: AUG 2 5 FILE SUBJECT: Resolution to Pay Membership Fee in the US Conference of Mayors REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission approve the attached Resolution authorizing the City Manager to pay the sum of $9,487 to the United States Conference of Mayors to renew the annual membership for 1998. BACKGROUND: Historically, the City of Miami has always maintained membership in the United States Conference of Mayors. The 1998 membership fee of $9,487 should be approved and paid in order to continue Miami's membership in this organization. For informational purposes, Miami received a prestigious City Livability Award from the United States Conference of Mayors in 1996. DHW/DMP/bb 10
